Matthew Broussard E/O White Gold on Steel 150cm x 150cm. E/O" which is short for either/or, or rather that's exactly how those words are translated into Italian. The image is of the renaissance sculpture of Perseus by Cellini which stands in Piazza dei Signori in Florence. He is seen holding the severed head of the medusa. The point being that people who sever heads can be seen either as hero's or terrorists depending upon the context. Matthew Broussard was born in Lake Charles, Louisiana in the U.S. Raised in Dallas Texas; he attended the arts magnet high school at Booker T. Washington, and completed his studies with a BFA in sculpture at the Maryland Institute College of Art in Baltimore, Maryland. He spent several years wandering between the U.S. and Europe, finally taking up permanent residence in Italy in 1992. He now lives and works near Lago Maggiore, participating regularly in national and international exhibitions.
